Do you repair Voith retarders?

Yes. Voith hydraulic retarder repair and complete overhaul are carried out in our own workshop; the labour is not outsourced. For Telma retarders we do not offer repair — we supply spare parts only.

Voith retarder overhaul or a new unit — which makes more sense?

We generally recommend overhaul: a remanufactured Voith unit beats a new one by a wide margin on price and lead time. Labour is never subcontracted; the unit stays with us from diagnosis to delivery. Teardown and cleaning come first; we then measure wear on every component, including the hydraulic pump, rotor, stator and sealing elements. Based on that measurement we renew damaged parts, reseal the unit and run it through a performance test, using the same original Voith parts we use in daily workshop repairs. We do not commit to a verdict before that measurement; we tell you what we actually find once the unit is open. If the housing is cracked or the rotor damage is beyond repair, overhaul stops being economical: in that case we say so and recommend a new unit. In short, overhaul suits standard wear and faults, while a new unit makes sense for serious housing or rotor damage.
